The Rebellious Rogue River

Prospect, Oregon

Note to Reader: The videos in this series were captured during my 1,000-mile hiking quest in the summer of 2024. You can read more about that journey in my book The Woman on the Ferry: A Journey of 1,000 Miles to Redefine Success and Discover Joy.

I spent several days walking along the wild, mysterious Rogue River in Oregon. This river doesn’t follow anyone’s rules—it carves its way through gorges with a fierce, rushing energy, then slows into quiet eddies perfect for a fishing line or a moment of stillness.

Nature Listening Points is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

On a sun-drenched afternoon, I wandered out onto a sandbar that stretched into the current. There, with nothing but sky above and river below, I filmed 60 seconds of pure presence. Lush green grasses danced at the water’s edge. Towering evergreens stood guard. The river sparkled as it tumbled over smooth pebbles, whispering secrets only nature knows.

Today, I invite you to join me beside the rebellious Rogue. Close your eyes and let the sound of the water carry your worries downstream.

Take a minute. Breathe. Let this be your sanctuary—a 60-second pocket of magic to revisit whenever the world gets too loud.
